dacron batting for sale
If you're searching for Dacron batting for sale, you're likely finishing a cushion, chair seat, or headboard and want that smooth, professional look. Dacron is a polyester batting that wraps around foam to soften hard edges, add gentle loft, and help upholstery fabric glide on without wrinkles or slipping.
Why Upholsterers Rely on Dacron
Bare foam can feel firm at the corners and may cause fabric to wear unevenly over time. A layer of polyester upholstery batting fills out the cover, creates a rounded crown on cushions, and reduces friction between foam and fabric.
Common Uses
- Wrapping seat and back cushions
- Padding dining chairs and benches
- Softening headboards and ottomans
- Filling out loose or slightly oversized covers
What to Look For
Consider loft and thickness first: thinner bonded polyester batting suits snug, tailored pieces, while thicker wrap adds a plump, crowned look. Check whether the batting is bonded on one or both sides, since bonded surfaces resist shedding and are easier to handle. Finally, measure your foam so you buy enough to wrap the top, front, and sides with a little extra to trim.
