dacron polyester by the yard
Buying Dacron polyester by the yard is the easiest way to give cushions, headboards and upholstered furniture a smooth, professional finish. Dacron is a polyester fiber best known in the workroom as a soft batting that wraps around foam, rounding sharp edges and filling out covers so they look full instead of flat.
Why Upholsterers Rely on Dacron
A layer of Dacron batting between foam and fabric does more than add softness. It helps the cover slide on more easily, reduces wear where fabric rubs against foam, and evens out small dips for a crisp, plump shape.
Popular Uses
- Wrapping seat and back cushions for sofas, chairs and benches
- Padding headboards, ottomans and dining chair seats
- Softening outdoor and boat cushions
- Adding loft to quilts, pillows and craft projects
What to Look For
Consider the loft you need: thinner wraps keep tailored lines, while thicker layers add plushness. Check the roll width against your cushion size so you can wrap in one piece, and look for bonded batting if you want less shedding and easier handling.
